Welcome to our VM Backup and Replication Services! We provide comprehensive backup solutions with the added benefit of VM replication for enhanced data protection.
Our Hourly Backup service provides frequent snapshots within the same cluster, ensuring that you have access to recent data in case of any unexpected events.
Snapshot frequency: Every hour
Storage: Within the same cluster
Recovery: VM recovery can be performed directly from the snapshot within the same cluster.
For enhanced disaster recovery capabilities, our Daily Snapshot on Remote Cluster service replicates your VM snapshots to a remote cluster. This enables failover activities in case of a disaster, allowing you to restart with the latest snapshot on the remote cluster with the same configuration.
Snapshot frequency: Once daily
Storage: Remote cluster
Recovery: Failover activity can be performed, starting the VM on the remote cluster with the selected snapshot.
In the event of data loss or VM issues, follow these steps to recover your VM using the Hourly Backup:
Access the backup dashboard.
Select the desired snapshot from the hourly backups.
Initiate the recovery process.
Confirm the recovery, and your VM will be restored to the selected snapshot.
For disaster recovery scenarios, perform the following steps to initiate failover activity from the remote cluster:
Access the remote cluster dashboard.
Identify the latest snapshot available.
Initiate the failover process, specifying the desired configuration.
Confirm the failover, and your VM will be started on the remote cluster with the selected snapshot.
To backup a VM and initiate replication, follow these steps:
Take a snapshot of the VM you wish to replicate.
Ensure the snapshot is available in the specific datacenter where you intend to create the replicated VM.
Use the snapshot to create a new VM. Note: The new VM cannot have a smaller disk size than the original snapshot-associated VM.
After the duplication process, note that the copied VM will possess a new IP address. To redirect a domain name from the original VM to the duplicated VM, update the DNS records accordingly. Ensure that the domain's DNS records point to the IP address of the copied VM for seamless redirection.
To set up daily backups for your VM, follow these steps:
The frequency of VM backups cannot be adjusted.
Create a snapshot of your VM anytime using either the control panel or the snapshot action available through the VM actions API endpoint.
These backups generate an image of your VM, which can be utilized to create a new VM instance when needed.
At present, there isn't an option to reverse the process of restoring a VM from a backup. However, if you have a snapshot of your VM taken before the restoration, you can revert the VM to that specific snapshot. If a pre-backup snapshot isn't available, the sole recourse would be manual recovery, involving any local copies of the VM's data retained from previous development stages.
To migrate your VM to an alternative datacenter region, follow these steps:
Take a snapshot of your VM.
Use the snapshot to generate a new VM in the targeted datacenter region.
Note that snapshots exclusively capture the data present on the disk at the specific moment the snapshot is created.
For added disaster recovery capabilities, set up the Daily Snapshot on Remote Cluster service with these steps:
Log in to your account on our website.
Access the remote cluster settings.
Enable the Daily Snapshot on Remote Cluster service.
Provide the necessary details for the remote cluster connection.
