Virtual Machines Alerts Configuration

Introduction

Welcome to the VM Alerts Configuration guide. This document provides comprehensive instructions on setting up and customizing alerts for your VMs.

Alert Configuration

Enter a descriptive name for the alert that clearly indicates its purpose and the aspect of the VM it monitors. Example: "High CPU Usage Alert"

Choose the specific condition you want to monitor for the alert. Options include Memory, CPU, and Disk Usage.
Example: For a "High CPU Usage Alert," select the condition as "CPU."

Assign a severity level to the alert based on the impact and urgency of the monitored condition. Options include "Critical" and "Warning."
Example: A "High CPU Usage Alert" might be assigned a severity level of "Critical."

Provide a brief but informative description of the alert. Clearly state the purpose and potential implications of the alert.
Example: "Alert triggered when CPU usage exceeds 90% for an extended period."

Classify the alert based on its impact type. Options include "Performance," "Capacity," "Configuration," and "Availability."
Example: A "High CPU Usage Alert" could be classified as impacting "Performance."

Set static thresholds to define the limits for triggering the alert.
Alert Critical if:
Specify the conditions under which the alert should be considered critical. Define the threshold values for the monitored condition.
Example: CPU usage is critical if it exceeds 90%.
Alert Warning if:
Define the conditions that trigger a warning alert. Set the threshold values for the warning level.
Example: CPU usage triggers a warning if it exceeds 80%.

Set the duration for which the specified conditions must persist before triggering the alert. This helps avoid false alarms for transient spikes.
Example: Trigger the alert if CPU usage exceeds the defined thresholds for 5 consecutive minutes.

Click the "Create" button to save and activate the configured alert. Ensure the alert is correctly set up by reviewing the settings before finalizing.
